Ranked 6th in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023

Durham University has been ranked 6th in the UK in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide. This result further confirms Durham’s position among the highest-ranking institutions in the UK.

We have also been named the top University for graduate prospects in the North East.

This academic league table is made up of eight indicators including student satisfaction with teaching quality and their wider student experience, research quality, graduate prospects, entrance qualifications held by new students, degree results achieved, student/staff ratios, and degree completion rates.

Ranked 6th in the Guardian University Guide 2023

We're delighted by these positive results, which consistently put us in the UK top 10 across three different prestigious league tables, in the Complete University Guide, the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide and now the Guardian University Guide.

Eight of our subjects have been ranked in the UK top 5, including Biology, Classics and Ancient History, Criminology, Earth Sciences, English, History, Physics, and Theology and Religion. A further thirteen subjects have been ranked in the UK top 10, making this league table a notable success for Durham.

The Guardian University Guide ranks institutions by subject, measuring student satisfaction, staff numbers, spending and career prospects.

I have lived in China since I was born, but because of the pandemic, I have not been back since August 2019. Many friends have asked how I managed for this long. But to be honest, I don’t feel like I’m ever too far away from home at Durham. It is my home away from home.
