St John's may be one of the smallest colleges at Durham University but our community is mighty in spirit.
Accommodation at St John's is varied and full of character. Some buildings are historic, listed buildings while others are more modern and purpose-built. All undergraduates are housed in buildings on the Bailey, with all meals fully catered. Most rooms have a single bed and shared bathroom and toilet – but there are also some en-suite rooms, some shared rooms, and some rooms with double beds.
The wide range of facilities at St John's includes a new library with lots of study space, a gym, a separate weights room, and a boat-house for our College Boat Club. Our twelfth-century chapel is a wonderful space for music and worship.
We have gardens that go all the way down to the river with an outdoor amphitheatre, as well as an extensive outdoor seating area for eating, drinking, and socialising!
When you visit St John's during the post-offer visit days, a team of current student representatives will show you around the College and tell you more about what makes St John's so great. There'll be student reps and refreshments available in Leech Hall throughout the drop-in sessions so you can relax, ask questions and get to know some Johnians while you're visiting. We'll be open for you to drop-ins between 9.30am - 12.30pm each day and we look forward to meeting you!
St John's is located on the Durham peninsula, right in the centre of town. St John's buildings are all connected through the inside and you'll notice them as the external doors and window covers are painted blue.
If you're walking up the Bailey from town, you'll pass Hatfield, St Chad's and then you'll get to St John's. Just after us and before Prebends Bridge is St Cuthbert's.
There'll be student reps outside the doors to our main Reception - they'll show you where to go from there.
If you're using a map on your phone - the address is 3 South Bailey (DH1 3RJ).
