British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023

British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Durham University

Due to the volume of applications received, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities holds an internal competition to select applications for support through to the full competition.

In advance of the British Academy’s call for applications opening on 5 July 2023 please find below the details of the internal process for the Department of History

Candidates are required to check their eligibility for the scheme before applying.

****

The Department of History invites expressions of interest from outstanding candidates who wish to apply for a prestigious British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship through Durham University.

We welcome enquiries from eligible candidates particularly those related to the research themes in the department (https://www.durham.ac.uk/departments/academic/history/research/) or to relevant University Research Centres and Institutes (https://www.dur.ac.uk/arts.humanities/research/research_centres//). Applications are particularly welcome from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in the University.

For the internal competition candidates are asked to secure a mentor in the Department to support their application. They should submit an expression of interest (i.e., an up-to-date CV and 1 A4 page summary of the research proposal) to the mentor by 12 noon, Friday 28 July 2023.

Working with their mentor candidates will be required to complete and return Durham University’s internal application form, available via the Arts and Humanities Research Team (artsandhumanities.researchteam@durham.ac.uk) by 12 noon, Friday 11 August 2023.

If your application is selected at Departmental level it will advance to a Faculty Panel in early September.

The scheme deadline is Wednesday 4 October at 5pm.
