Students will read 50 short excerpts from Warring States and Han period texts, presented as a course with an introduction to the grammar of classical Chinese and to the use of particles. In the Epiphany term students will additionally read a longer passage or passages of text from the same period allowing the study of both textual conventions, including exegetical notes, in more detail and some of the literary and philosophical concepts underlying the texts.
