The module will explore eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century Russian literature in the further context of Alexander Pushkin’s work (Eugene Onegin and The Captain’s Daughter, in particular). It will specifically look at ‘narrative models’ of late 18th and early 19th century society, examining these works as representations of the emerging genre of the novel. The works will be contextualized within eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century cultural and social history and literature.
