Located at the heart of the city

Durham University's Department of Theology and Religion is located at the heart of Durham's historic city centre, with buildings close to Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle. These are both UNESCO World Heritage sites, featuring beautiful medieval and Georgian buildings.

Vibrant student community

Durham University as a whole and the Department of Theology and Religion is a welcoming and vibrant place for international students. 

As well as being a lively intellectual community, the Department provides social opportunities, including staff and students. These opportunities include the following:

  • The Theology Society, run by students, organizes social events across the year, including an annual ball, attended by staff and students.
  • The Café des Théologiennes organizes social and academic events for women students and staff.
  • During term-time there are weekly staff-student coffee mornings.
