Biography

Rebecca is an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance at Durhan University Business School. 

Rebecca's research interest in the area of pedagogy focus on the use of continuous / repeat assessment as well as problem and enquiry based learning, especially learning with learning objects. Her main research interests in the area of theoretical and empirical Finance focus on the use of institutional economic theory to analyze institutional as well as organizational change. In terms of applied research Rebecca’s interests focus on the role of boards of directors and shareholders for corporate governance and performance. 

Rebecca's teaching expertise is in the areas of Corporate Governance, Corporate Finance as well as Business Economics.

Rebecca holds a PGCert Teaching and Learning in Higher Education  (2003) and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2018). 

In terms of administrative experience within Durham University Business School, Rebecca served as MPhil/PhD Programme Coordinator (Management) (2003-2005), Programme Coordinator fort the UK DBA Programme (2003-2005) and Deputy Director of the full-time MBA programme (05/2005-08/2008). Between 2016 and 2019 Rebecca served as exam board chair on undergraduate programmes across the School.

Between 2019 and 2023 Rebecca served for four years as Associate Dean (Accreditation and Quality Assurance) for the Faculty of Business and on the University’s Quality and Standards Committee (QSC). 

Prior to her appointment at Durham in 1999 Rebecca worked for five years at the Department for Economic Theory (II) and the Research Institute for Comparative Economic Systems at the Philipps University, Marburg.

Rebecca is an Associate Professor in the department of Finance at Durham University Business School. Her main research interests lie in Learning and Teaching in Business Schools as well as in Corporate Governance.
