Ujjal Mondal is a Career Development Fellow in Accounting at Durham University Business School, Durham University. He earned a PhD in Accounting from Norwich Business School, University of East Anglia, UK, and his research was whether textual contents of corporate disclosure impact equity analysts' forecasting, with a thesis titled "Essays on Textual Analysis and Analysts' Forecasting". His areas of research interest include financial and sustainability reporting, analysts' forecasting, credit ratings, and Textual analysis, and he employs advanced machine learning algorithms in his research. He continuously presents his research at top accounting conferences, including the European Accounting Association Annual Congress, the British Accounting and Finance Association Annual Conference, and the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance conference, among others. He also discusses and reviews papers in conferences and journals, like the British Accounting Review and the Review of Managerial Science.
Before joining Durham, he was working as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the University of Sussex Business School, University of Sussex, UK, and as an Assistant Professor at Gopalganj Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. He taught several undergraduate and postgraduate modules in financial accounting and management accounting. He is an Associate Fellow of Advance HE (AFHEA).
