"Stepping into Professor Atanu Chaudhuri’s Business Analytics class was an invitation to think differently. With a rare blend of analytical depth and real-world wisdom, he didn’t just teach us formulas or models; he taught us how to see the story behind the numbers, how to cut through the noise, and how to turn data into decisions that matter.

Under his guidance, I gained a deep understanding of analytical techniques that have become integral to my approach in solving business challenges. His hands-on teaching helped me master regression analysis, clustering, classification models, optimization modeling, and forecasting, all of which I now use to drive data-backed decisions in consulting.

Beyond the classroom, Professor Atanu became a true mentor to me. When faced with challenging case studies and real business problems, he was the one who helped me sharpen my thinking, push past surface-level analysis, and develop structured, data-driven solutions. His guidance was never about giving answers—it was about challenging perspectives, refining approaches, and understanding the ‘why’ behind every business decision.

If I had to sum up my experience in one line, I’d say this: Professor Atanu equips you with a way of thinking that stays with you long after the course is over - A way of thinking that turns data into insight, and insight into impact. His impact goes beyond grades and assessments; it shapes the way you approach problems, make decisions, and navigate the complex world of business. And for that, I’ll always be grateful."

"My experience with Atanu started early in the academic year with him as our pathway lead, introducing the pathway (supply chain), and good module recommendations for our pathway.
This set a solid initial representation of being professional and experienced, an impression reinforced when certain module leaders failed to attend/present their modules at an elective module choice event.

As a lecturer, Atanu has been patient and engaging in class. With a small class of 11 peers, Atanu has encouraged us to engage and actively participate in discussions; a sometimes difficult task when the class is struggling on a Monday morning to shift into gears. Despite the initial lag from students, Atanu has sought to ensure that those attending class have a clear understanding of the requirements of the module.

Atanu goes beyond the module, as an experienced industry expert, Atanu understands the industry we seek to enter. Often providing industry needs and support for acquiring interviews as well as business projects. More recently, Atanu personally organised one of if not the best guest lectures to have come to Durham University. Leaving students excited and motivated to speak further with experts and join in further in class. These guest lectures reinforced what Atanu has been teaching as well as how to experience the industry after graduation.

Outside of the classroom, Atanu has personally engaged with my peers and myself to enable further learning and scaffold our progress into our early careers."
