Exploring the LGBTQIA+ histories in the Ancient Greek Collections
Colour photo, interior. 2 performers wear white bed sheet robes. One performer sings into a microphone and looks down. The other performer is next to them, also looking downwards.
Location: Oriental Museum
Date: Thursday 29th August 2024
Time: 10am-12pm
Join artists Bex Harvey and Sarah Li in this free workshop exploring Durham University’s Ancient Greek collections to discuss LGBTQIA+ histories, respond to the collections through creating small pieces of poetry and song. Respond to the historic objects through an exploration of imagined potential worlds through a historic lens, creating intimate, beautiful queer responses. Inspired by performance work ‘Fragments’ created by Bex Harvey and Sarah Li.
All welcome, no experience of writing or singing necessary! Sarah and Bex will be offering creative writing prompts and idea-generating exercises as well as gentle introduction to singing together with a no pressure invitation to delve more into collective or solo singing if that feels desirable.
Please sign up to the workshop beforehand as this workshop has a limited number of places.
