This session is dedicated to the FRC’s latest research on: ‘The impact of proxy advisers and ESG ratings agencies on FTSE350 companies and investors’
A workshop hosted by the Centre for Ethical Finance, Accountability and Governance
Session Chair: Dr. Anna TilbaDr. Anna Tilba worked collaboratively with Chris Hodge and Morrow Sodali team to produce this research commissioned by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC). The study delves into important questions surrounding the recommendations and ratings provided by proxy voting and ESG rating agencies. It examines how these influence companies' behaviour, reporting, governance policies and practices, as well as investor voting decisions.
The findings of this study challenge some widely held assumptions and offer a more nuanced understanding of the influence wielded by proxy advisors and ESG rating agencies. Their impact on voting outcomes and companies' decision-making processes may not be as straightforward as previously believed.
