Biography
Dr Vsevolod (Seva) Ostapenko is an Assistant Professor on the education track. His broad area of specialisation is Macroeconomics. Before joining Durham University Business School in 2023, he was affiliated with St. Petersburg University and held a visiting position at St. Petersburg campus of the Higher School of Economics.
Vsevolod's professional experience spans more than nine years, and includes teaching various disciplines within Economics, module design and curriculum development. He has an extensive background in creating special courses devoted to applied macroeconomic policy issues, having delivered a series of guest lectures at Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg in 2019. With a track record of working within the Liberal Arts educational model, Vsevolod has been a member of the Smolny Beyond Borders initiative since fall 2022.
Vsevolod currently serves as the Programme Director of MSc Economics, Year Tutor and Placement Tutor for Undergraduate Economics students. He teaches the following modules:
- Macroeconomics (2nd year BA Economics)
- Global Economic History (1st year BA Economics)
- Introduction to Economics (pre-sessional online module for MSc Economics)
