Durham City

Durham is a globally outstanding centre of teaching and research excellence, a collegiate community of extraordinary people, a unique and historic setting – Durham is a university like no other.

Students appreciate not only the University and School with its rich history and heritage, but also the atmosphere of Durham. The Durham World Heritage Site was added to the World Heritage List by UNESCO in 1986, and includes Durham Cathedral, the Shrine of St Cuthbert and Durham Castle.

The city of Durham is a gateway to the picturesque area of the North East of England. Students visit Durham at the start of the programme, and for additional elective modules as they choose. Durham is a 20 minute taxi ride away from Newcastle Airport and the railway station is on the main east coast line with direct links to London and Edinburgh.
