Strategic Innovation

This course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and tools to unlock the full potential of innovation within your organisation. Centred on creating and capturing value through innovation, the course integrates proven models, cutting-edge research, and effective management techniques to navigate and harness innovation successfully.

You’ll explore both the drivers and barriers to innovation, gaining a deeper understanding of why innovation can often feel uncertain—and how to overcome that uncertainty with strategic, practical approaches. Through hands-on tools and frameworks, you'll learn how to turn ideas into impactful actions that contribute meaningfully to your company’s growth.

Recognising innovation as the lifeblood of any successful business, the course also emphasises how to foster a culture of innovation and lead others through the process. You’ll gain insights into building systems that support creative thinking and sustainable innovation, while developing your ability to manage change and inspire teams.

Taught by

Dr Stephanie Scott is an Associate Professor in Innovation and Strategic Management. She holds a PhD in Management Degree from Durham UniversityDr Stephanie Scott Business School, which was recognized as an Outstanding Thesis during the 2017 congregation ceremony. Dr Scott's research focuses on innovation networks, behaviours, and processes. She is particularly interested in the exploration of formal and informal relational governance mechanisms, business model designs, and the enabling/constraining factors of coupled process open innovation network performance. Her research projects have been focused on the transfer of highly specialised technical knowledge and communication with the new product development process context. She regularly disseminates the findings of her work and expertise to benefit a broad range of stakeholders; including several multi-national organisations, SMEs, and local and national policy-makers.
