Abstract
Value destruction is an umbrella concept that manifests itself in different ways. This research talk will provide insights into the facets of value destruction and thus contribute to a better understanding of its dimensionality. In addition, the research talk will illuminate different cases of value destruction. Special emphasis will be placed on product destruction as a common form of value destruction. Firms in different industries destroy products as a way of dealing with product returns, damages and recalls. However, product destruction can have a wide range of (often negative) effects. The research talk will discuss some of these effects and present an initial research model. It will also present preliminary findings from a qualitative study and discuss avenues for future research.
