About Us

Founded in 2025, the Centre is anchored at the Arts & Humanities Faculty and relies on collaborative initiatives across the Faculty and beyond with the School of Governance and International Affairs, the Faculty of Science, the Business School, the Law School, the Faculty of Social Sciences, as well Durham's research centres and institutes. The centre engages in collaborative research-, teaching- and outward facing activities in connection to Ukraine’s past and present to inspire people to study the extraordinary case of Ukraine and its global implications and to follow careers using the knowledge and skills they gain in doing so. The centre prioritises community-led research and toolkit development as well as the implementation of the research results in teaching at Durham University and Ukrainian partner universities. As Ukraine’s recovery needs to be comprehensive and interdisciplinary, the centre engages colleagues in collaborative cross-disciplinary initiatives to ensure sustainable support of Ukraine.
