We are pleased to announce that Dr Volker Kang (former Durham Law School student) will be presenting a Career Talk at the Centre for Chinese Law and Policy.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • A career journey - from university learning to gaining practical experience through internships and building networks as a junior professional, leading to advancement into experienced and leadership roles.
  • A case study on setting up a European asset management firm for a Chinese financial group, offering consulting insights into market entry strategy and regulatory considerations.
  • Insights on KPMG in the UK, China, and Switzerland, including an overview of the firms and career opportunities.

Dr. Volker Kang is a Director in the Asset and Wealth Management practice at KPMG Switzerland, advising financial institutions on regulatory, operational, and technology matters. He leads projects on Swiss regulations (e.g. CISA, FinSA, FinIA) and contributes to EU/UK initiatives such as UCITS, AIFMD, MiFID II, and the FCA Consumer Duty, with a focus on their impact on Swiss intermediaries.

He is also involved in strategic transformation projects across the financial sector. Before moving into consulting, Volker gained extensive industry experience, providing a strong foundation for delivering practical and results-oriented advice. Volker holds a PhD in Asset Management Regulation and an LL.M. from Durham Law School.
