The HAI-End (High-End Computing and AI Empowerment for DRI Professionals) grant supports the creation of a national training and development programme aimed at advancing the skills and careers of professionals working within the UK’s Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI).
Beyond training, HAI-End addresses broader challenges in the DRI ecosystem, including:
Limited career progression for research software professionals.
Lack of recognition for software development contributions.
Institutional promotion barriers that undervalue technical achievements.
By addressing these challenges, the HAI-End grant seeks to bolster the UK’s research infrastructure, improve collaboration among councils, and create sustainable career pathways for those advancing innovation in computational and data-intensive research
As part of the HAI-End project, dedicated revision materials have been developed to support its training activities. One of the key offerings is the High-Performance Computing Concepts course, designed to introduce a wide range of stakeholders to the essential concepts and practices of HPC.
The course features a curated series of animated video materials, making the content both engaging and interactive. These videos are complemented by an online learning module hosted on the DiRAC Training Academy, providing participants with structured learning pathways and resources to reinforce their understanding.
This integrated approach ensures that learners—whether new to HPC or seeking to refresh their knowledge—can develop a strong foundation in the principles and applications of high-end computing.
If you have a project idea, would like to host a training event, or wish to partner with HAI-End, we’d love to hear from you.
