Biography

Fruzsina Szücs is a Music Psychology researcher and a pianist, currently pursuing a PhD in Music Psychology at Durham University. She obtained a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Music Psychology (distinction), and a Bachelor of Music with Honours degree in Piano Performance (first class) at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester (UK). Her master’s thesis consisted of researching how music listening and programme notes influence autobiographical memories. Her current research focuses on how musical cues, and cues from other modalities (visual, olfactory, gustatory, linguistic, auditory) influence autobiographical memories. At Durham University, she is a member of the Music Psychology Lab, and she has presented her research at different conferences. She has recently presented at the SEMPRE Conference in Manchester (April 2024), and she will present at the 18th International Conference of Music Perception and Cognition in Saõ Paulo, Brazil in July 2025.

Alongside her research work, Fruzsina is also a performing pianist, and she especially enjoys performing with her piano duo partner, Louis Perera. She has performed at venues such as Festsaal, University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar (Germany), the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen (Hungary), the Lionel Wendt Theatre (Sri Lanka), and the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester (UK).
