Katie is an MJur candidate and part time tutor on the Law of Family Relationships module at Durham Law School. Katie achieved a first-class degree in Law from Durham University. Katie started her MJur in October 2022 and is funded by a Durham Law School Studentship.

Current Research

Supervised by Dr Andy Hayward and Mr Chris Bevan, Katie’s research focuses on assessing whether the denial of automatic acquisition of parental responsibility for an unmarried father violates Article 14 read in conjunction with Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Katie will be assessing whether the time has come for automatic acquisition of parental responsible for all fathers regardless of marital status.
