Biography
Richard BA MIFA FSA has worked on a wide variety of archaeological projects throughout the north-east of England, and in Cumbria, Humberside, Yorkshire and Gloucestershire, in the past 30 years. He has extensive experience of development- and management-related work, including survey, excavation and desk-based projects. Richard’s specialist interests include the archaeology of buildings; he has studied structures ranging in size and complexity from castles to cow byres. He has taught adult education, undergraduate and postgraduate groups and regularly speaks on archaeology to a wide range of audiences. Richard has written numerous reports for commercial clients, and for local and national journals, and co-authored monographs on Carlisle Castle and the A66 Archaeology Project. He is a member of the Institute of Field Archaeologists and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.
