Turbidity currents and submarine canyon formation
Sean is a PhD researcher studying turbidity currents in the Congo Canyon. He is particularly interested in erosion and deposition within submarine canyons, using time-lapse bathymetry to determine and quantify how sediment is distributed. Sean is also collaborating on a project to develop a conductivity sensor that will be used to measure high concentrations of suspended sediment. This will be used to provide the first direct measurements of suspended sediment concentrations within a turbidity current.
