Explore how to get to our various locations:

Palace Green (DH1 3RN)

Your coach driver will usually drop you at Durham University Students Union (Dunelm House, New Elvet, Durham, DH1 3AN). This map shows you the short walk to Palace Green from there.

If you need to bring your minibus up to Palace Green for access reasons, please contact us ahead of your visit so we can make these arrangements for you.

For visits to Durham Castle, please meet the Learning and Engagement Team at Palace Green Library before you are taken into the castle.

Durham Castle has restricted access due to the age and listing of the building. This means, in order to access the Castle, we will be using stairs. If you think this could be an issue for anyone in your group, then please contact us ahead of your visit.

The Oriental Museum (DH1 3TH)

Your coach driver will usually drop you on Elvet Hill Road. From there it is a very short walk on a pedestrian path up the hill to the museum. If you are arriving by minibus, there is a small car park at the museum entrance, and someone will be there to help as you arrive. You will need to give the minibus registration details to our museum reception team as you arrive at the museum.

Botanic Garden (DH1 3TQ)

There are two entrances to the Botanic Garden. Coaches should drop you off at the Park and Ride entrance (DH1 3TQ), which is number 26 on our downloadable map. From here it is just a short walk through the kiosk gates and up the hill to the greenhouses (number 6 on map) where a member of the Learning and Engagement Team will meet you. If you are arriving by minibus, there is a small car park at the Visitor Centre entrance (number 1 on map).
