We are pleased to offer two free online courses (MOOCs) that explore the role of satellite remote sensing in archaeological research and heritage protection.
The first course, Endangered Archaeology: Using Remote Sensing to Protect Cultural Heritage, provides an overview of how satellite imagery is used to monitor and protect cultural heritage sites. This course covers the basic principles of remote sensing and its application in preserving archaeological sites, especially in areas that face significant environmental or political threats.
The second course, Advanced Archaeological Remote Sensing: Site Prospection, Landscape Archaeology and Heritage Protection in the Middle East and North Africa, takes a more in-depth look at how satellite imagery is processed and interpreted for archaeological purposes. Focusing on the Middle East and North Africa, this course examines advanced techniques in site prospection, landscape archaeology, and the protection of heritage in these regions.
Both courses are free and offer a practical way to learn more about our work and the use of remote sensing in archaeology. Whether you're new to the field or seeking to expand your knowledge, these courses provide a solid introduction to the use of satellite technology in cultural heritage preservation.
