Language encounters: A celebration of language and cultural diversity at Durham University

This will comprise six events to celebrate different languages and cultures of Durham University. Each will take place on one evening on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday 7th – 9th March 2023, 6:30-8:30pm.

Event is open to:

  • Staff and students of Durham University  with origins or family links to the region, country or language in question;
  • Staff and students visiting the University from countries where the language is spoken, especially exchange students
  • Staff and students of the University learning that language
  • Members of the public currently registered as language learners on a course at Durham University

The event will be social in nature, offering the opportunity for language learners to engage with native speakers, language tasters, and for the deepening of inter-cultural awareness across our University communities.  International staff and students are particularly welcome to join us. Those learning languages independently are also invited to come along, to help practise your skills!
