Choir singing in Durham Cathedral

Our students showed their solidarity with the people of Ukraine with a special rendition of the country’s national anthem sung in Durham Cathedral.

Durham University Choral Society began their performance with prayers and silence for Ukraine before singing Shche ne vmerla Ukrainy i slava, i volia.

The anthem was the prelude to Choral Society’s concert of Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and Mozart’s Requiem, under their new conductor John Forsyth, with Durham University Orchestral Society.

The Choral Society also followed up this performance with a rendition of the Ukrainian national anthem at a gathering for staff and students outside the Bill Bryson Library to show support for Ukraine.
