Students from Durham University Palatinate Orchestra

In an inspiring programme, DUPO will perform Dvořák’s New World Symphony as a celebration of their 15th anniversary.

Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 is a much-loved staple of symphonic repertoire, bursting with drama and weaving Czech and American spiritual influences through its symphonic canvas.

Also featured on the programme are Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor, performed by soloist Ernest Newland, and Clyne’s Masquerade, a concert overture commissioned for the BBC Proms in 2013.

Founded in 2008, Durham University Palatinate Orchestra is one of Durham University Students Music’s leading orchestral societies, performing a wide range of challenging and diverse repertoire throughout the academic year.

The society prides itself on its high-quality music making whilst retaining an inclusive and social atmosphere, and is also heavily involved in outreach projects.
