Students in the Cathedral cloisters

A broad range of our students drawn from our 17 colleges and 120 nationalities at the University have been invited to the Celebration of Youth at Durham Cathedral on Sunday 5 March 2023.

Celebration of Youth

This special service is hosted by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham, Mrs Sue Snowdon. It will celebrate the talent and leadership of young people, the importance of meaningful youth participation and the contribution made by the amazing volunteers who support them. The service, in the magnificent setting of Durham Cathedral, will also recognise the important contribution young people play in the development of society.

We are honoured to take part in the Celebration, further increasing our students’ participation in the wider community. Durham is a world-leading university and proudly part of North East England. From inspiring learning to sharing our facilities, from driving economic growth to helping our region become more sustainable: we ensure that the benefits of a world-leading university are shared across our city, county and region.

Durham Global Week

This event occurs at the start of Durham Global Week (4-11 March) and is one of many opportunities to celebrate our place in the world and in our local community. We are all part of an interconnected world, facing global challenges that our young people are playing a crucial role in responding too. We provide inspiration and opportunities for young people to realise their full potential and achieve outstanding things in our world.
