Celebrating success and looking ahead: careers opportunities in 2025
After a successful careers fairs season in the Michaelmas term, we’re looking forward to an exciting line-up of events this term.
The Epiphany term has three more careers weeks for our students to come along to as we support them to explore a range of career pathways, sectors, and opportunities.
Students can meet individual employers and professionals in a range of spheres to find out more recruitment processes, employment vacancies, and network. Whether you’re a current student planning to attend, a prospective student exploring what Durham has to offer, or an employer seeking early career talent, our fairs and events provide an unparalleled platform to foster connections, gain insights, and drive professional growth.
Our Careers & Enterprise team continues to innovate and evolve, ensuring that students and employers alike reap the benefits of our high-quality, expertly run events. With an exciting spring programme ahead, we can’t wait to see what connections and opportunities the new year will bring.
Epiphany term programme
The careers weeks are open to all Durham students irrespective of academic discipline or level of study.
Further resources and support
Each of the careers weeks is supported by online resources on a dedicated SharePoint site for students. Further resources are also provided on our CareersConnect platform. Students can explore employer profiles, live vacancies, careers fact sheets and skill development tips. They can access practical advice on CV writing, applying for jobs and can book an appointment with one of our careers advisors.
Invaluable insights into different industries
Nearly 4,000 students and 180+ businesses attended our careers fairs and weeks last term. Staff from our Careers & Enterprise team delivered a packed programme across four themed events, including Part-time jobs, placements and volunteering; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths); Law; and Business, Finance and Consulting.
2024’s events brought together employers and students in dynamic, engaging ways, showcasing the breadth of opportunities available to early career talent. The fairs offered students invaluable insights into different industries, practical advice, and the chance to make meaningful connections with top employers.
The careers fairs really opened my mind to exploring opportunities in smaller companies and not just the big firms.
The career fair was a great opportunity to engage with motivated students and discuss the work we do. We LOVE coming to Durham.
