Durham CSDLP at COP27 - Climate Education Hub

This event is about extending collaborative links with climate learners, including researchers, students, and civil society. The core of the event is the role of the Centre for Sustainable Development Law and Policy (CSDLP) in delivering lifelong literacy. The centre is designed to serve as a novel concept for an educational hub within a leading university, through which research findings, projects, and innovative solutions can be shared, beyond academia and across society.

The Sustainable Development Goals serve as cross-cutting themes in our research projects, policy work and collaborative initiatives, including education and training, gender, health and wellbeing. We aim to develop local and global projects, and we are working with partners in the Global South. The event would help us to establish further collaborative links with individuals and organisations from the Global South.

There are three main objectives of the event.

The first is to extend collaborations with others, and from a diverse range of UNFCCC constituencies.

The second is to share ongoing projects and educational programmes, such as the Global Environmental Law Lecture Series to which Justices from the highest courts globally contribute (India, Thailand, Nepal, Germany, Australia and others), collaboration with CIL for the provision of workshops  on the Global Stocktake, and the new masters programme on International Environmental Law with its focus on International Climate Change Law.

The third objective is to promote new initiatives in other institutions, and to invite interested partners in working together, to achieve more climate and SDG education and at a larger scale. For example, the CDSLP will provide funded writing workshops for early career researchers in ODA eligible countries, and the event would support finding additional beneficiaries and partners who want to help with the delivery.
