Professor Woolley specialises in her research on supporting progress towards ecological sustainability through law. In the seminar, she will argue that interdisciplinary interaction between specialists in law, ethics, and ecology is central to developing societal structures for moving away from an inherently unsustainable present and promoting ecological sustainability.

A key focus will be on the identification and definition of bottom lines for ecologically and ethically tolerable activities, and the development of mechanisms for supporting progress away from them towards less unsustainable ways of living. The seminar will be of interest to scholars working in law, in ecology, and in ethics, particularly those with a focus on the environment in their work. It will also have broader appeal for all scholars working on sustainability in their research, whatever their discipline.
