IMH researchers invited to speak at three-day workshop convened by the Centre for Medical Humanities and Bioethics (CMHB) at Linköping University.

“Medical Humanities – Future Interdisciplinarity” was a three-day workshop convened by Lisa Guntram and Kristin Zeiler (featured in above image) from the Centre for Medical Humanities and Bioethics (CMHB) at Linköping University. The workshop brought speakers from across Europe and North America to convene in the extraordinary lakeside city of Vadstena, addressing issues ranging from the ethical and epistemological challenges posed by synthetic data to the continuous development of the health humanities curricula post-covid.

In view of the close relationship between the IMH and CMHB, Jane Macnaughton and Angela Woods were both invited speakers: Jane discussed how the interdisciplinary approaches of the medical humanities could inform and in turn benefit from wider thinking about flourishing research cultures, and Angela spoke about an empirical study she had conducted with Jamie Rákóczi about the role of ‘the literary’ in interdisciplinary collaborative projects. The intellectual richness of the workshop was complemented by the stunningly generous fika served every afternoon and the beauty of the setting in a site of medieval pilgrimage. Our thanks to Lisa, Kristin and all who participated!
