We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr James Rákóczi as an Honorary Fellow with IMH.

Dr Rákóczi was previously a visiting Fellow with IMH from April-September 2022, where his research focused on anxiety. He has since maintained his strong ties to IMH through his ongoing roles as Early Career Development Lead and Network Coordinator with the Northern Network for Medical Humanities Research (NNMHR).

Dr Rákóczi’s three-year Honorary Fellowship will draw together and sustain this close involvement with IMH, enabling him to continue a valued contribution to our research programme on hidden experience. In particular, his research will focus on the development of his doctoral work into ambitious publications which seek to transform understandings of health and illness across a range of disciplinary areas. Proposed outputs include a monograph on neurological disorder and contemporary memoir, a series of research articles re-examining the role of phenomenology and arguing for a more robust understanding of disability and social equity in health-related research, and a series of articles on mental health disorders.
