Welcome to Victoria (Pip) Hardy

A warm welcome to Victoria (Pip) Hardy who joins us as a Bridging Fellow in the Narrative Practices Lab on the Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities.

Pip has a PhD in health and social care from Manchester Metropolitan University, an MSc in lifelong learning, and qualifications in counselling, non-religious pastoral care and adult education. Her doctoral thesis examined the potential of digital storytelling to transform healthcare.

In 2003, Pip co-founded Patient Voices in the hope of reminding all those who design and deliver healthcare of our shared humanity and the need for kind, dignified, respectful, compassionate person-centred care through the creation and sharing of reflective digital stories of health and illness. The stories are told by those who deliver as well as those who receive health care.

Pip says:

"Twenty years of digital storytelling in healthcare has given me a real appreciation of the value of the humanities in the design and delivery of care. I am excited to be joining the Narrative Practices lab and look forward to exploring the ways in which digital storytelling can bring about transformation and healing at both individual and organisational levels."

We warmly welcome Pip to Durham University and look forward to working with her on the Discovery Research Platform.
