Biography
I am a third-year PhD student in the Department of Biosciences in partnership with the Atmosphere, Ice and Climate team at the British Antarctic Survey, the IAPETUS2 DTP and Woodwell Climate Research Center's Arctic team.
The PhD is titled “Fanning the flames: past and future links between climate change and fire activity across boreal forests”. The project aims to elucidate the processes and drivers involved in fire-climate interactions in the Siberian and North American boreal forests, subsequently to see to what extent climate change is responsible for increases in fire disturbance in different regions, and finally to understand the likely impact of projected climate change on the frequency of future forest fires.
My project is supervised by Dr Gareth Marshall (BAS), Professor Robert Baxter (Durham), Dr Brendan Rogers (Woodwell), and Dr Scott Hosking (BAS) in further collaboration with Dr Yili Yang and Stefano Potter at Woodwell.
