Personal Statement

I originally trained as a graphic designer before spending several years travelling and pursuing musical interests. I then returned to University to study film and media. My main interest was documentary film, from which some of my films were considered for film festivals and I was fortunate enough to have one of my films nominated for a regional RTS (Royal television society) award.

After completing my degree I worked for the NRFTA (Northern Region Film and Television Archive) at Teesside University, as a film technician. My main duties were digital preservation and restoration, collection management, environmental monitoring, and maintenance of legacy format video and film equipment.

Alongside my role at the NRFTA I worked for Aframe Media Services Ltd, and helped with the preproduction work for programmes such as Worlds Toughest Trucker (Channel 5) and The Manor Reborn (BBC).

In March 2012 I came to Durham University on a fixed term contract as Audio Visual Supervisor. In June 2012 I took up the permanent position of Communications Support Administrator for the Department of Physics.

I am a qualified Mental Health First aider (MHFA) and a Chartered Manager with CMI.
