Henry Padden


Biography

Henry joined Durham University as a PhD candidate in October 2018 with the School of Government and International Affairs and the Law School. His doctoral research focuses on justice in war termination drawing on the Just War Tradition and international law of armed conflict. Specifically, it is an interdisciplinary project analysing the theoretical coherence and legal viability of a duty to surrender.


He holds a BA in Politics and Philosophy from the University of York and an MSc in Security Studies from University College London. His masters dissertation conducted a comparison between the Genocide Convention and the other major international crimes in law and practice.


Before joining SGIA he worked as a writer for a company catering to a range of public, private and corporate sector clients. He is also currently the Secretary of the PhD Association.
