Biography
I work on seaweed, primarily on their evolution and systematics, but also on their bioenergy potential and their ecological importance along the UK’s coastlines.
My DPhil in Biochemistry was awarded in 2000 and between 2000-2007 I held postdoctoral research fellowships in Cambridge, Plymouth and Roscoff, taking a year off in 2002-2003 to play professional rugby. From 2009-2012, I held a Lectureship at Queen’s University Belfast and moved to Durham in 2013.
