Biography

I am a passionate people project manager with a drive to engage and empower talent from under represented backgrounds. I work as the finance scheme manager looking after the graduate, apprentice, YII and summer placement programmes for the finance function at Network rail. I serve as the chair of Cultural fusion Network rails employee network for Black, Asian and ethnic minority employees. I have vast experience delivering local diversity initiatives; most importantly helping to identify and break down barriers that hinder personal and professional development for underrepresented employees.

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology. I joined the department in 2021 after completing the Master of Education programme in education leadership and policy development at Bristol University and BA (Hons) Education at Durham University. My doctoral research is funded by Network rail.

Field of Study

My doctoral research explores the lived experience of ethnic minority workers on the railway. It looks particularly at how members of ethnic minority communities in Network Rail navigate historically white spaces. The project seeks to understand what personal and professional barriers are experienced and how members of this community group respond to this.
