Biography
Martha is a 4th year PhD student in the Department of Engineering. She received her Bachelor of Computer Science degree and was valedictorian of the 2018 class at Instituto Tecnológico de Mazatlán (Mazatlan Institute of Technology) in Mexico.
Research Project
Martha's research focuses on solving the issues of home energy management systems, such as carbon footprint.
She focuses on machine learning and optimisation algorithms for home energy management systems, while also working on appliance identification by using neural networks.
The first part of her research evaluated different algorithms and feature extraction techniques for appliance identificacion in houses. She is currently working with optimisation of the use of appliances and managing the battery storage and solar panel energy generation in homes.
