Staff profile

Simon joined Durham University and the Institute of Advanced Study in January 2012 as Assistant Administrator (COFUND). His primary role is the day to day running of the Durham International Fellowships for Research and Enterprise (DIFeREns). This includes helping to run all parts of the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) Schemes and assisting the development of improved administrative processes.

After coming to the North East in 2000 to read German and Politics at Newcastle University, Simon stayed to conduct research in pre- and post- unification (East) German literature, and benefitted from academic funding schemes himself. Seeking vocational challenges outside of academia, he then moved to the public sector, working in local government while completing a management diploma at Warwick Business School.
