Biography
In my research, I pay attention to how transnational identities are negotiated through connections to material objects to answer questions about our identities. Difference and diversity are central to both my research topic and methods; the former is centred on how, if paid attention to in migration, we can better represent the diverse embodied experiences of transnational migrants. The latter comes through in my mixed-methods approach to data collection (e.g. cooking, room tours, listening to music, collaging, and diary entries), where I highlight the challenges of instability, insecurity, and uncomfortableness felt by my participants. Through my research, the tensions between transnational individuals and the political structure of states and citizenship that assume relatively static forms of identity and belonging can be further understood.
