If you have received an offer for our BSc Accounting course, then this is because we have identified your merit and potential to study on this new course, even though we were unable to offer you a place on your original choice.
The programme is designed to provide maximum professional accreditation, allowing students to graduate as partly exam-qualified accountants.
This degree will be taught on a semesterised basis, with new modules being introduced each term and the degree incorporates a strong employability theme throughout the programme in both credit bearing and non-credit bearing activities.
As this is a degree with a strong link to a professional role and a professional career following graduation, the first two years of the programme are made up of compulsory modules, with an opportunity to specialise in chosen areas and develop a research project in the final year.
The degree has six coherent subject pillars and one theme:
The subject pillars build throughout the degree so that students can identify linkages between modules. The employability theme helps students to understand the link between work done and employability skills gained.
If you have any further questions on our new BSc Accounting programme, then please contact the Programme Director, Gary Dewey, at gary.dewey@durham.ac.uk
The information below contains important details about your offer to an alternative course:
No, if we have made you an offer for a different course, this means that we were not able to make you an offer for your original subject choice. We will not be able to reconsider our decision. You would be very welcome to make an application for your original choice through UCAS in any future cycle. We consider all applications afresh each year so any previous application will have no impact, either positive or negative, on your chances of gaining a place with us in future.
Please note that if you accept your offer and start your studies at Durham, you will not normally be able to transfer to your original choice once you have registered with us. Therefore, you should only accept your referral offer if you intend to study this alternative course through to graduation.
We understand that if we’ve made you an offer for a course you’ve never considered before, you might want to do a bit of research! You can find detailed information about all of our courses in our courses database, including what your career opportunities could be if you took that course. All of our graduates are highly sought after and Durham University is ranked in the top 40 globally for employer reputation.
If we have made you an offer for a course that was not your original choice, then we will only consider a change to another course which has spaces available. To find out which courses are open at UCAS, please visit www.ucas.com. To request a change to one of these courses, please contact us through our web enquiry form found here: www.durham.ac.uk/study/askus
As stated above, you cannot request a change to your original choice or to any course that is closed to new applications at UCAS. A request to be considered does not guarantee that you will receive an offer. If places are available, we will consider your application against the entry and selection criteria for that course and let you know our decision as soon as possible. Just to reassure you, this will not put your existing offer at risk – if we cannot change your course then your existing offer will still remain open until you make your replies or the reply deadline date, whichever is sooner.
