Pensions

Membership in a pension scheme supported by Durham University is a valuable benefit of working for the University. Both you and the University contribute to the scheme, and you benefit from it in retirement.

DUPS

The Durham University Pension Scheme (DUPS) is offered to members of staff, with contracted hours in Grades 1 to 5. If members of staff wish to take up membership of this pension scheme, they must opt-in at the same time as opting out of AVIVA membership. A guide, titled 'Your Pension Options Guide', showing the differences between DUPS and Aviva can be accessed below.

USS

The Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) is the main national superannuation scheme in the HE sector. It is open to contracted staff in Grades 6 or above and members of staff are AUTOMATICALLY entered into the scheme (under a salary sacrifice arrangement) unless they opt-out.

Aviva

Aviva provides our automatic enrolment, workplace pension scheme to eligible members of staff.
