Hatfield Undergraduate Scholarships 2023/24

Hatfield College is delighted to announce the following Undergraduate Scholarships.

  • Chadwick Scholarship (preference for Engineering);
  • Gant Scholarship (preference for Geography);
  • Hatfield 175 Anniversary Scholarship (students can be studying any subject);
  • John Oaks Memorial Fund (preference for Maths or Physics);
  • Robin T White 1956 Scholarship (students can be studying any subject).

These Scholarships are designed to support Home undergraduate students of exceptional potential and genuine financial need.

Each scholarship provides £4,000 per academic year.  The scholarships will be awarded to applicants holding offers of a place at Durham, who have been allocated to Hatfield College, and who are commencing their studies in October 2023.

How to Apply

Prospective applicants must:

  • Stage 1: have submitted an academic application to Durham University via UCAS for an available programme of study; have been offered a place for entry to Durham University in 2023/24; and have been allocated to Hatfield College.

  • Stage 2: submit an online application form including your UCAS personal statement. 

  • Stage 3: request an academic reference from one of your teachers in support of your scholarship application to be sent by email to hatfield.trust@durham.ac.uk. Please ensure your referee submits the reference on letter headed paper which contains their name, position, contact details, the name of the scholarship and your full name.

Please provide a copy of your Student Finance England confirmation of funding letter once received to hatfield.trust@durham.ac.uk

Selection Process

  • Scholarship applications will be considered on the basis of their ability to meet the eligibility criteria, academic potential, the personal statement and reference provided.

  • In addition to the information supplied on the scholarship application form, the University will gather contextual information to support the assessment of scholarship applications.
