COVID-19 Information

Fitness Centre

Our Covid safe protocols are still in place to ensure a safe environment for you to return to training. We have implemented rigorous cleaning procedures that allow physical activity to take place without restrictions supported by testing.

Please remember:

  • we require you to wear a face mask on entry and exit of the building and whilst moving around crowded communal areas
  • please regularly sanitise your hands, clean equipment before and after use
  • please be respectful of others and maintain sensible social distancing at all times when using the facility

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you in advance for respecting and following our Covid guidance which has been put in place to keep our members and staff as safe as possible. We can't wait to welcome you back!

Student Sport

For the last 12 months, we have been working hard to ensure that we continue to offer our students the greatest possible Wider Student Experience whilst taking into account Government restrictions and guidelines.

With the removal of social distancing restrictions, Durham University is looking to enable student sporting activity to restart in the safest possible way supported by regular testing.

Test to Participate

So that we can maintain a safe environment for all of the Durham University community, any student wishing to engage in WSE should be looking to take an LFT test at a DU testing centre twice weekly and no less than 48 hours prior to the activity.

  • Test to Participate will be employed for all organised and structured face-to-face student performing arts activities. This includes but is not limited to exec meetings, rehearsals, auditions, and performances
  • Testing is required at least twice per week and no more than 48 hours in advance of participation
  • Students will be eligible to participate as soon as they have taken their first test (and received a negative result) - you do not have to take two tests before you can participate
  • All students will be required to test regardless of whether they have been double vaccinated - or not
  • All tests must be a DU test and taken at a university testing site
  • Members of clubs who are unable to access a Durham University test should look to take a free NHS LFT test

Testing is still required for outdoor events and training. This will be done on a trust basis although spot checks may be in place from covid marshals

If you are meeting in a group of under 75 you will not need to be checked in advance of the activity. There will be an understanding of trust in individuals to maintain sensible and safe behaviour.

Spot checks will be carried out by Covid marshalls however and these may also be in place to cover busy areas.

Groups over 75 should get in contact with to organise sufficient marshalling cover for events.
