Summer Sculling camps
Our annual summer sculling camps are back for 2022, running for 3 weeks from July 25th. From learn to row to performance camps we cater for all levels of rowing ability. Click on the link below for more details.
Team Durham currently host 3 regular junior programmes; Hockey, Basketball and Tennis. Please see below for more information.
Junior Hockey
When: Sundays, Ages: 6-9 (09:30-10:30) & 10-16 (10:15-11:55), Where: Maiden Castle Hockey Pitches (DH1 3SE), Cost: £4.50 a session (Termly or Annual discount available)
A partnership with Durham City Hockey Club and Team Durham, hockey is our largest junior programme with over 100 members. Specifically tailored to be accessible to players of any experience we have sticks that beginners can borrow, goal keeping kit for those interested and highly experienced coaches from both DCHC and DUHC. Fixtures have returned for the 2021/22 season at U8, U10, U12, U14 and U16 level. Contact: junior.hockey@durham.ac.uk
Junior Basketball
When: Tuesdays 4.30pm-5.30pm, Ages: 8-12, Where: Maiden Castle Arena A (DH1 3SE) Cost: £3.50 a session
In partnership with our WBBL Durham Palatinates, basketball has been one of our fastest growing programmes in recent years. We will be restarting Basketball in October.
Junior Tennis
When: Mondays, Ages: 3-8 (4pm-5pm) & 9-11 (5pm-6pm), Where: Maiden Castle Arena A (DH1 3SE) Cost: £34.99/£3.50 a session
Returns Monday 23rd May – Monday 27th June (inclusive) with 2 age groups.
3-8 year olds can book onto our LTA Youth Start programme here which must be pre booked. This costs £34.99 for which you will also receive An LTA Youth Start racket, ball-set, and branded t-shirt delivered right to your door.
9-11 year olds will be an open session for which you can pay weekly delivered by our LTS qualified coaching staff.
We also provide opportunities for adults to access sport and physical activity provision, working with our community partners (Lanchester Road Hospital, Changing Lives, Blindlife, Waddington Street Centre and Resolve Care) where we use sport and physical activity to increase wellbeing and social inclusion.
We work very closely with the local community, working in partnership with organisations to offer a range of opportunities. These include working with Durham City and Chester le Street School Sports Partnership to host a variety of festivals and events, we offer strength and conditioning support to the Durham Institute of Sport programme working with Durham County Council and work with County Durham Sport to support the delivery of the School Games Programme.
The University Sport and Wellbeing Park is home to many local clubs and teams including Durham City Harriers, Elvet Striders, Lazlo's Fencing Club, Durham Mums on the Run, Durham City Hockey Club, Shincliffe Juniors FC, City of Durham Fives Club and Durham Women Football Club. Volunteering and coach development is at the heart of our programme and we offer both opportunities to members of the public through our Holiday Camps programme and to University students with our Community sport activator scheme .
