Post-offer Visit Day

Congratulations on your offer to study Liberal Arts at Durham! We very much hope to see you here in the autumn. While you wait, we are delighted to welcome you to one of our Post-offer Visit days, too.

The degree programme in Liberal Arts allows you to assemble your own tailored course of study from modules offered by departments across the Faculties of Arts and Humanities and Social Sciences. Whether you want to study well established subject combinations like History and Politics, or Philosophy and Modern Languages, or whether you have ambitious plans to construct yourself a degree in the Digital, Medical or Environmental Humanities, we look forward to helping you make the choices that will line you up for the future you want to create for yourself.

Session Information

The study visit will begin with a talk on the wealth of options available to Liberal Arts students and we will offer guidance on how to start thinking about which combinations you would like to explore. One of the programme directors and a student representative will give you a sense of what it’s like to be a student of Liberal Arts, and all offer-holders are encouraged to attend.

The second session will offer you a taster of the Liberal Arts programme’s first-year core module, Sources of the Self. This is a module all about how we became who we are today, and the (cultural, economic, environmental, scientific and technological) changes that have led to us becoming very different kinds of selves over the course of history, leading up to the present and beyond. The first sample lecture will give you a glimpse at the sort of materials we study and give you a chance to experience first-hand what learning at Durham will be like.
