On Wednesday 19th May, as part of the CMP seminar series, we have a presentation and then a discussion with Dr Rodger Sykes, our department’s newly awarded entrepreneur in residence by the Royal Society. All are welcome to meet Dr Sykes!

Dr Rodger Sykes, Durham Physics' Entrepreneur in Residence
Dr Sykes has a global background in high technology in both small and large companies. For the last 7 years he has focused on growing and mentoring early stage companies and leading growth through Board Director roles. He is currently Exec Chairman of Thalia Design Automation, a UK based Software Design Automation company focusing on Analog and Mixed signal chip design. He also has NED roles at Perceptual Robotics, a UK based company focused on using Drone technology for Wind turbine and other infrastructure inspection, and Space Forge, a UK based company focused on semiconductor chip manufacture in Space.
From 2006 to 2010 he held multiple CEO roles inc MMIC Solutions, a mmwave subsystem chip company, SiConnect Ltd, a powerline networking company, and picoChip in Bath (UK), a cellular femtocell company.
He lived in the USA from 1990 to 2002 holding senior management positions with Texas Instruments, Philips Semiconductors and latterly with LogicVision Inc a Design Automation Software company including their $47M IPO in 2000.
