This talk is part of the Department of Psychology seminar series.
I will talk a bit about how I came to work in the area of human echolocation, and my beginnings in Durham. I will then talk about the research we do these days, and how working with a ‘niche’ skill such as echolocation and with people who are blind can help us gain a better understanding of the typical brain. I will finish with describing the impact our work has had on lives of people who are blind.
Professor, Durham University
Professor Thaler has built her lab with research focused on human echolocation, and has built a worldwide network of collaborators and echolocation expert participants who travel to Durham for research. The work has been supported by various Research Councils and charities, and has also been of interest to the general public and media.
